Dr Slick Curved 4.5 Hair Scissor
Dr Slick Curved 4.5 Hair Scissor is a 4.5-inch fly-tying scissor developed for larger flies and for cutting hair and other demanding materials. The model combines long, heavier blades with a serrated cutting edge and pointed, curved tips featuring a 30° bend. This geometry makes it easier to follow an arcing cut when shaping heads, wings and substantial bundles of material.
The blades are made from Japanese 410 stainless steel with a Rockwell hardness of 45. The serrated edge helps keep hair and fibres from sliding as the scissors close, giving the tier more control when cutting thicker bunches. The longer, heavier construction provides a larger working edge than short detail scissors, making this model well matched to streamers and other patterns dressed with a substantial volume of material.
The conventional finger-loop handles have a gold finish. These scissors are intended primarily for natural materials, including hair, fur and feathers, and can also handle most synthetics used in fly tying. Their curved tips help the tier gradually form rounded profiles without having to keep the blades working in only one plane.
