Partridge YG3A B&W Sproat Forged Wet Fly (10)
This old style of wet fly hooks is very well established in the Partridge range.
The original name came from a Mr Sproat who went to Hutchinson’s of Kendal (Hookmakers) about 1880 and persuaded them to make a hook of this shape.
On April Fool’s day in 1980 the Managing Director of Partridge decided that the “De Sproat” hooks were developed by a Swiss Admiral of that name. The “De Sproat” hooks
were specifically designed for fishing flies in glacial streams and they were fished upstream. The fishermen ran along the bank to keep the flies in their position.
