Airflo Low Diameter Gel Spun Backing is a slim fly-reel backing with a favourable diameter-to-breaking-strain ratio. Its compact profile makes efficient use of spool capacity, whether fitting out a small reel with limited room or preparing a higher-capacity outfit for powerful fish and long runs.
Backing sits between the reel spool and the fly line. It helps bring the line to the appropriate level on the spool while providing extra reserve once a fish runs beyond the length of the fly line. The ultra-low-stretch construction maintains direct contact during the fight, while the bright yellow colour makes it easier to follow the direction of a running fish.
The line is fused to prevent it from unravelling during rigging and use.
