Akita Snap Hook
Akita Snap Hook is a small connector fitted at the terminal end of a fly leader. It allows flies to be changed without cutting off and retying a knot each time, making it easier to switch patterns as conditions or fish activity change. Repeated fly changes also remove less material from the tippet, helping to preserve its working length.
Tie the snap hook to the tippet with a suitable knot, then pass the connector through the eye of the fly. When selecting a size, consider both the diameter of the fly eye and the proportions of the pattern. The smaller option takes up less space at the eye, while the larger option may be easier to handle when paired with suitably sized flies.
The stated measurements are approximate. Before fishing, check that the fly is seated correctly in the connector and inspect the complete connection. Each packet contains 25 snap hooks, providing a practical supply for a fly box, waistcoat or tackle bag.
