Danville Acetate Floss
Danville Acetate Floss is a body material particularly well suited to nymphs. When it comes into contact with acetone, it melts, hardens and becomes semi-transparent, allowing the finished body section to take on a different appearance and a firmer character. Wind it onto the hook as an even floss layer, then use acetone as a controlled finishing step to harden the material. This makes it useful for compact, clearly defined bodies where a more solid surface is wanted. The spool contains 900 den material and is 10 yds long. Form the body and secure the end before applying the solvent. Use acetone sparingly and with control, preferably away from the finished head, and check the effect on a small section first. The material changes state on contact, so careful application is important when preserving the intended outline of the fly.
