Dr Slick 2.25 Stainless Steel Hackle Plier
Dr Slick 2.25 Stainless Steel Hackle Plier is a compact, non-rotary hackle plier made from stainless steel. Measuring 2.25 inches overall, it is designed to grip a feather stem while hackle is wound around the hook shank. Its short format keeps the tool close to the fly without the added length of a separate handle or rotary mechanism.
One jaw is covered with rubber tubing to increase friction where the tool contacts the feather. This helps reduce movement of the stem during successive wraps, particularly when the remaining tip is too short or awkward to hold with the fingers. As the head does not rotate independently, the hackle is wound by moving the entire plier around the hook. The straightforward design is intended for conventional hackle application on dry flies, wet flies and streamers.
