Dr Slick 2 Stainless Steel Rotary Hackle Plier
Dr Slick 2 Stainless Steel Rotary Hackle Plier is a compact rotary hackle plier designed to grip the tip of a feather and guide it as the hackle is wound around the hook. The head turns relative to the handle, allowing successive wraps to be placed without repeatedly repositioning the tool in the fingers or excessively twisting the wrist. This construction provides convenient control when forming parachute hackles, where the feather is wound around a post.
This version is made from stainless steel, specified by the manufacturer as 400-grade stainless steel. Its steel jaws have rubber tubing on one gripping surface. The resilient lining increases friction against the feather stem and helps reduce slippage during winding. The compact format is easy to manoeuvre close to the hook, particularly when only a short section of stem remains, while the rotary mechanism lets the tier concentrate on the feather angle and the spacing of successive turns.
Key features of the plier
