Dr Slick Black 4 Clamp is a compact 4-inch fishing clamp for precise streamside work. Its straight jaws provide controlled access when removing a fly from a fish, flattening a hook barb or securing small split shot on a leader. The short format is particularly well suited to small flies and light tackle, where a larger pair of forceps could prove cumbersome.
The jaws combine smooth tips with a striated gripping section. This arrangement allows measured pressure around a hook while providing extra purchase on small tackle components. A locking mechanism keeps the jaws closed without continuous pressure on the finger loops. The pin positioned by the jaws can be used to clear blocked hook eyes and assist with opening small split shot.
The clamp is made from 410 Japanese stainless steel, hardened to 42 Rockwell, and has a black finish. After use in salt water, rinse it thoroughly with fresh water, dry it and apply a small amount of oil to the joint when required. Keeping the jaws free from grit and residue will help the locking action remain smooth and the gripping surfaces effective.
