Dr Slick Black 6 Clamp
Dr Slick Black 6 Clamp is a traditional fishing forceps measuring 6 inches (15.2 cm), made for handling hooks and small items of tackle at the waterside. It provides a controlled grip when removing a hook from a fish, crushing a barb before fishing or closing split shot on a leader. The longer format gives useful reach and leverage when working with larger flies.
The clamp is made from Japanese 410 stainless steel with a hardness of 42 HRC and has a black finish. Its jaws combine smooth and striated sections, providing suitable surfaces for both barb crushing and secure hook handling. Finger loops offer precise control, while the ratchet mechanism locks the jaws at the required pressure. A pin set into the shank can be used for clearing blocked hook eyes and opening small split shot.
Clean and dry the tool after use to prevent grit and residue from collecting around the jaws and joint. Following exposure to salt water, rinse it thoroughly in fresh water and occasionally apply a small amount of oil to the pivot. Straightforward maintenance will help the locking mechanism continue to operate smoothly.
