Dr Slick Curved 5.5 inch Black Clamp
Dr Slick Curved 5.5 inch Black Clamp is a curved fishing clamp designed to hold a hook securely while it is being removed from a fish. At 5.5 inches, or approximately 14 cm, it offers useful reach without becoming cumbersome, while the angled jaws provide better access inside the fish’s mouth. It can also be used for crushing barbs and closing split shot.
The clamp is made from Japanese 410 stainless steel with a Rockwell hardness of 42. Its jaws are curved through 30 degrees, helping to keep the hand clear of the working area. The gripping faces are divided into smooth and striated sections, allowing the angler to choose a suitable contact surface for the task. A ratchet lock maintains the selected pressure without requiring the handles to be squeezed continuously.
For controlled hook removal, grip the bend of the hook and guide it back along the direction in which it entered rather than twisting it sharply. Rinse and dry the clamp after fishing. Following saltwater use, wash it thoroughly in fresh water and occasionally apply a small amount of oil to the joint to keep the action smooth.
