Dr Slick Curved 5 inch Black Spring Creek Clamp
Dr Slick Curved 5 inch Black Spring Creek Clamp is a 5-inch fishing clamp with slim, curved jaws for precise hook handling at the waterside. Its needle-nose profile provides a controlled grip when removing a fly from a fish, particularly where access is restricted. The jaws are set at a 30° angle, keeping the handles away from the working area and giving the angler a clearer view of the hook.
Smooth gripping faces make the clamp well suited to flattening barbs, including those on fine hooks, without the pronounced marking associated with serrated jaws. Dr Slick specifies the Spring Creek model for flies ranging from tiny #26 midges to #6 buggers. A locking mechanism holds the jaws at the selected setting, while the pin fitted within the shank can be used to clear blocked hook eyes.
The clamp is made from Japanese 410 stainless steel with a Rockwell hardness of 42. Its black oxidised finish adds a further protective layer and gives the tool a subdued appearance. After use in salt water, rinse it with fresh water, dry it thoroughly and apply a small amount of oil to the joint and locking mechanism.
