FFGene Bobbin Holder Standard
FFGene Bobbin Holder Standard is a complete fly-tying bobbin holder with a conventional open-frame construction for controlled thread placement. Two spring arms hold the spool between the end cups, while a straight metal tube provides a defined path for the thread on its way to the hook. The Standard version relies on spring-arm pressure against the spool; it does not use a separate disc drag, slider or adjustment knob.
During tying, the weight of the holder and the resistance of the turning spool help keep the working thread under control. When released, the tool can hang below the hook, supporting the thread and reducing unwanted slack in completed wraps. The slim tube makes it easier to place thread close to the hook shank and direct successive turns to the required point. With the spool seated correctly, it rotates on a stable axis for more predictable thread delivery and repeatable handling.
Before tying, centre the spool between the end cups and check that it turns smoothly while retaining noticeable resistance. If the grip is too tight or too loose, the spacing of the spring arms may be altered very gently and evenly. Do not force a spool that cannot be seated securely. The tube outlet should also be checked regularly and kept clean and smooth, as dirt or damage at the thread path may affect thread handling.
