FFGene CDC Dubbing
FFGene CDC Dubbing is exceptionally soft dubbing made from CDC fibres for forming fly bodies. The pack contains approximately 0.5 g and is available in 10 colours. The fibres come from CDC feathers taken from the duck’s preen-gland area. They create a mobile, airy surface that can trap air bubbles when submerged. The dubbing is suited to dry-fly bodies and imitations of insects emerging through the surface. It also works on selected nymphs when a soft surface suggesting a caddis casing is required. Its loose form lets you take small portions and control the body thickness as you tie.
Construction and use
Separate the fibres before use and take small pinches to create a slim body. Apply the dubbing to the thread, twist it into a loop or form it directly on the thread according to the pattern. On a dry fly, leave some fibres projecting to add movement; on a nymph, shorten them for a more compact profile. Match the colour to the insect being imitated.
