FFGene Chinchilla Dubbing
FFGene Chinchilla Dubbing is a very soft material intended especially for small flies. Its gentle fibre character helps create slim bodies without making the pattern unnecessarily bulky, an important advantage on small hooks. It is well suited to delicate nymphs, wet flies and other patterns where the body must remain proportional and natural-looking rather than overly compact or prominent.
Construction and use
For the greatest control, apply tiny portions directly to the thread. A dubbing loop is useful when you want a looser, softer surface with more visible fibres. On small patterns, avoid packing the material too tightly: a thin layer makes it easier to form an even taper, while a light touch with a needle can open the fibres without disturbing the silhouette.
- Character: very soft dubbing for precise work on small flies.
- Patterns: small nymphs, wet flies and slim bodies that need a restrained profile.
- Dosing: use minute amounts so the thread and finished body are not overloaded.
- Technique: use a dubbing loop for a looser texture and a needle to tidy or separate the fibres.
