FFGene Mallard Wild Quills
FFGene Mallard Wild Quills are natural mallard wing feathers, a classic material for wings on dry and wet flies. Their broad, orderly vanes can be cut into matching slips and paired to form a slim, symmetrical wing with a clean outline. The pack contains three pairs of quills.
Construction and use
Mallard quills are used for wings on traditional patterns including Autumn Dun, Iron Blue, Blue Dun, Black Gnat, Olive Quill, Wickham’s Fancy and Dark Blue Sedge. Individual barbs can also form tails and legs, while a stripped stem provides quill material for slim, segmented bodies. To build a paired wing, select two slips of similar width and marking, align their tips and secure them with controlled thread wraps so the fibres remain together.
