FFGene Regent Vice Revolving W/Base Black
FFGene Regent Vice Revolving W/Base Black is a complete black-finished fly-tying vise supplied with a freestanding pedestal base. This version does not need to be fixed to the edge of a table, so the tying station can be placed at a suitable working position and moved when required. The Regent design combines fast spring-operated jaws with a revolving head that helps the tier reposition the hook during different stages of a pattern.
The jaw mechanism is designed for quick hook changes. Operating the lever opens the jaws; releasing it allows the spring action to provide the gripping force without repeatedly setting an adjustment screw for each hook size. The stated range from size 24 to 4/0 covers small patterns as well as considerably larger flies without requiring a different head. This is particularly useful when tying batches that involve several hook sizes. Seat the hook where the jaws have sufficient contact while leaving the working section of the shank accessible. Before applying thread tension, test the hold gently, especially with hooks that have an unusual bend, profile or wire diameter.
The head can be revolved to inspect the far side and underside of the fly or to bring a specific area into a more convenient working position. This is positioning rotation rather than a true-rotary system that aligns the hook shank precisely with the axis of rotation. The joint between the head and column also allows the working angle to be changed. For a secure setup, place the pedestal on a clean, level surface, angle the head to leave comfortable clearance around the hook, and check that the adjustable connections are properly tightened. The vise fits naturally into a tying workflow where hook sizes change frequently and rotation is used mainly to check proportions, material placement and finishing from several directions.
