Greys Platinum T7 Sink Fly Line
Greys Platinum X T7 Sink is a fully sinking WF fly line intended for presenting flies well below the surface. Its T7 sinking class is the fastest and deepest-sinking option within this family, making the profile relevant to anglers who need to take a fly efficiently into a deeper layer of water. It can be used from either bank or boat when a floating line or a slower-sinking design would not keep the fly at the required level for enough of the retrieve.
Profile and fishing use
The short head helps the rod load quickly and allows the cast to form without a lengthy aerialised line. This reduces the need for repeated false casts, helping the angler place the fly back into the water promptly and work effectively where space for preparing the cast is restricted. The WF profile also supports distance while avoiding the need to carry an extended head in the air. That is useful when covering successive lanes of water from a boat or sending the fly farther out from the bank.
The low-diameter running line has an intermediate density. Its slim format reduces resistance as the line travels through the guides, while its density prevents it from remaining high on the surface behind the sinking working section. A slick, supple coating supports smooth passage through the guides and manageable handling while casting, retrieving line and preparing the next presentation. The dual-colour construction makes the sections easier to distinguish, helping the angler judge the position of the head before making the cast.
- Line type: fully sinking WF line in the T7 sinking class.
- Family range: WF 6, WF 7 and WF 8.
- Overall length: 90 ft; designed in the United Kingdom.
- Finish: dual colour, slick supple coating and a welded loop.
Within the series that also includes T3 and T5 models, the T7 version is intended for the deepest presentation. No single exact sink rate is specified, so selection should be based on the required fishing depth, the time allowed for the line to descend and the pace of retrieve. The welded loop simplifies connection to a leader, while the fully sinking construction helps keep the fly below the surface through a greater part of its path back to the angler. This profile suits those who prioritise decisive depth, efficient rod loading and fewer false casts over the more measured descent of slower-sinking lines.
