Griffin Tying Tools Bobbin Ceramic Magnum
Griffin Tying Tools Bobbin Ceramic Magnum is a reinforced bobbin holder for tying jigs and flies with firm thread pressure, including patterns that require hair heads to be formed and secured. The Magnum version is distinguished by a double-reinforced band joining the tube to the arms. This stiffens the tool under heavier loads and helps maintain steady thread control. It is a conventional spring-arm design without a dial or disc-drag mechanism; spool tension is produced by pressure from the arms.
The ceramic insert at the tube outlet provides a smooth contact point for the thread, reducing the risk of fraying when firm tension is applied. A flared infeed end makes it easier to introduce the thread from the spool side, while the compact construction supports direct control close to the hook. The ceramic component should be kept clean and inspected regularly, as residue or surface damage can interfere with smooth thread travel.
Before tying, place the spool between the feet and check that it turns smoothly with enough resistance for the intended wraps. If necessary, make only small, even adjustments to the spacing of the spring arms. One included bobbin threader is provided for drawing thread through the tube. After the session, fit the Threader Saver Cap over the end to help keep the thread from slipping back inside.
