H2O Grizzly Fibre
H2O Grizzly Fibre consists of loose synthetic fibres for streamer wings and other contrasting fly elements. Its distinctive barred pattern creates a clear grizzly effect, breaking up a solid area in a wing, back or tail. The fibres can be used on their own, blended with other materials or layered to build a more complex baitfish profile while keeping the construction based on flexible synthetic hair.
Construction and use
Work with this material like synthetic wing hair: once secured, the fibres retain movement in the water and can be shaped by separating, tapering and trimming. Take small portions, tie them firmly to the hook shank and shape the fly afterwards. This keeps the wing light and allows the contrasting bars to remain visible without packing the bundle so densely that it loses movement.
- Streamer wings Layer the fibres to give the barring more depth and to break up a single-colour wing.
- Backs and sides Use a tied-in section as a contrasting back, side panel or lateral accent in a small baitfish profile.
- Tails and accents Shorter, tapered bundles can form a tail or add a restrained barred detail to a larger wing.
- Preparation Separate a small bundle, align the tips, secure it firmly on the hook shank and trim the profile after tying.
