H2O Sculpting Fibre
H2O Sculpting Fibre is a lightweight, water-resistant synthetic fibre for shaping streamer wings and profiles. It trims and forms easily, making it useful for baitfish and crustacean imitations with a defined outline. Small portions can be layered to increase bulk gradually without overloading the fly.
Construction and use
Cut a small bundle, even the base and secure it firmly to the hook shank. After tying it in, tease the fibres apart and trim the profile from the sides, top or underside. Use a thin layer for a slim fly and build a fuller shape in several short stages. The material allows the silhouette to be adjusted after tying, which makes detailed profile work straightforward.
- Streamer wings Build lightweight wings and backs with easily controlled volume.
- Baitfish imitations Trimming defines a tapering profile, belly and tail.
- Crustaceans Layer the fibres and shape them into a rounded outline for crab or shrimp-style profiles.
- Working method Secure small bundles and trim gradually rather than tying in one overly dense portion.
