H2O Slinky Fibre
H2O Slinky Fibre consists of synthetic fibres for streamer wings, tails, backs and lateral accents that suggest a baitfish profile. As a loose material, it lets you control both bulk and length for the size of fly being tied, while separate bundles can be layered into a tapered shape. The fibres are water resistant, so the fly keeps a light construction and freedom of movement when wet.
Construction and use
Separate a small bundle, even the tips or leave them varied, and secure it firmly on the hook shank. The material can be layered, tapered with scissors or trimmed to a small baitfish profile. On larger streamers, add several light bundles instead of one dense bunch; this preserves fibre movement and makes the finished fly easier to dry.
- Streamer wings can be built from several thin layers, shaped into a narrowing profile.
- Tail and back are formed from a short, firmly secured bundle of fibres.
- Lateral detail takes only a small amount, laid flat alongside the hook shank.
- Final shaping is done with scissors; taper the lengths rather than cutting everything to one line.
