Hareline 1/2 in. Pseudo Hackle
Hareline 1/2 in. Pseudo Hackle is a prepared fibre strip for forming synthetic hackle, collars and mobile body details on flies. Its fibres are 0.5 inch long, and the strip can be matched to the hook size before being wrapped around the shank. The material creates a regular, open profile without tying in individual fibres one at a time.
Construction and use
Remove the temporary cross fibres created during manufacture, following the instructions included with the pack. Tie in the prepared strip by its end, then wind it while sweeping the fibres back before each turn. One edge may be trimmed to alter how the fibres sit or to produce a more controlled profile. Select the number of turns according to the fly size and the position of the collar or synthetic hackle. Secure the end and finish the head as usual.
- Form: prepared narrow strip designed to be wound.
- Fibre length: 0.5 inch for a spacious synthetic hackle profile.
- Preparation: remove the manufacturing cross fibres before tying in.
- Uses: collars, synthetic hackle and mobile details on flies and streamers.
