Hareline Amadou Pad
Hareline Amadou Pad is an absorbent amadou fly dryer for removing moisture from waterlogged dry flies. It provides a quick, straightforward way to deal with a pattern whose hackle, dubbing or wing has become saturated and no longer presents properly on the surface. The pad is compact enough to keep in a fishing vest or pack, ready for use whenever repeated casting is not sufficient to dry the fly.
Place the wet fly inside the folded pad and apply gentle pressure so that the amadou can draw out the retained water. There is no need to rub or twist the dressing; a controlled squeeze helps preserve the arrangement of delicate fibres and CDC feathers. If necessary, repeat the process on a drier area of the material. Once excess moisture has been removed, the fly can be returned to the water or treated again with a suitable floatant. After fishing, leave the pad open to air-dry naturally before putting it away. This helps ensure that the absorbent surface is ready for the next session.
Using the amadou pad at the waterside
- Draws retained moisture from saturated dry flies.
- Works by gently pressing the fly within the absorbent material.
- Suitable for delicate dressings, including CDC patterns.
- Prepares a dried fly for further use or a fresh application of floatant.
