Hareline Arctic Fox Zonker

Hareline Arctic Fox Zonker is a longitudinally cut Arctic fox hide strip with soft hair attached. The strip is 3 mm wide and approximately 20 cm long, with hair about 5 cm long. It is used for mobile streamer wings and tails, as well as wing and tail elements on salmon flies.

Construction and use

Part the hair at the tying point and remove the underfur from the section that will be secured to the hook. Trim the strip to length, tie it in with the hide against the shank, and guide the hair toward the rear. Control thread tension when forming a tail or wing so the soft hair is not flattened; several tying points help keep its direction aligned.
