Hareline Baitfish Emulator Flash
Hareline Baitfish Emulator Flash is a continuous flat material made from thin mylar fibres with varied textures. Its specially prepared edge allows the strip to be wrapped on the hook shank to form a baitfish-style wing or part of a streamer body. It can also be used in saltwater flies and pike patterns where a broad, reflective profile is required.
Construction and use
Trim and secure the end at the rear of the shank before tying. Emulator Flash can be laid as a strip, divided into narrower sections, or wrapped in a few adjacent turns while controlling the width and direction of the fibres. Once the material is tied off, eyes and a resin finish can be added where the pattern calls for them. Use it for wings, body sides and scale-like accents rather than treating it as a loose fibre bundle.
- Form: continuous thin strip suitable for laying or wrapping.
- Finish: a mix of mylar fibres with different surface textures.
- Handling: the prepared edge helps the strip track during successive turns.
