Hareline Daddy Long Legs
Hareline Daddy Long Legs consists of elastic strands for legs, feelers, tails and slender bodies in smaller fly patterns. The strands can be tied in singly or used in groups to create fine, extended appendages. Family colour examples include Chartreuse, Hot Orange, Red, Tan and Yellow; the visible finish depends on the selected variant.
Construction and use
Separate the required number of strands and trim them before tying or after checking their proportions against the hook. For legs, secure the centre of the strands at the sides of the body; for a tail or feelers, tie them in at the root. To create a slender body, wind a strand over an underbody in even turns and secure it at the front. Use broad, moderate thread wraps so the elastic material remains flexible and is not cut by the thread.
