Hareline Dura Skin
Hareline Dura Skin is a very thin, textured vinyl sheet for nymph wing cases, shrimp shells and wrapped fly bodies. It can be cut to the outline of a specific pattern, while its low bulk helps retain a slim profile when several layers meet at the tie-in point.
Construction and use
For a wing case, cut a tapered piece, tie it in behind the thorax and pull it forward after the thorax has been formed. Prepare a shrimp shell as a strip matched to the body width. For a wrapped body, cut a narrow, even strip, secure one end and wind it with a regular overlap. Sharp scissors or a blade produce a clean edge; use moderate, controlled thread pressure so the thin vinyl keeps its intended shape.
- Material form: very thin, textured vinyl sheet.
- Wing cases: cut the piece to the thorax width and pull it over the completed thorax.
- Shrimp shells: match the strip to the profile of the body.
- Wrapped bodies: wind a narrow strip with an even overlap.
