Hareline Iceabou
Hareline Iceabou is a long, loose flash material for adding a clear reflective accent to flies. Strands can form a streamer wing on their own or be added in smaller amounts to synthetic hair to brighten the profile. This material is handled as individual loose strands rather than as a prepared tape or brush: select, arrange and secure each bundle along the hook shank.
Construction and use
Iceabou is suited to streamer wings for pike and saltwater flies, as well as tails, backs and lateral lines on baitfish patterns. Match a small bundle to the hook size and spread it evenly before tightening the thread. Several layers may be built up, colours can be blended, and the ends can be shortened after tying in. On larger profiles, secure the material in stages instead of making one overly dense bundle that restricts the fly’s movement.
- Material form: long, loose synthetic strands with a reflective finish.
- Main uses: streamer wings for pike and saltwater flies.
- Tying method: use small amounts and secure them firmly along the hook shank.
- Shaping: layer or blend the strands with synthetic hair, then trim the profile as needed.
