Hareline Kileys Exo Skin
Hareline Kiley’s Exo Skin is a flexible, cuttable sheet with a mottled pattern for making strips and custom body or shell shapes. Cut it to match the hook and use it as a nymph back, wing case or section of a body. In two-colour combinations, the first colour identifies the mottling and the second colour is the dominant background.
Construction and use
Cut a strip or shape to match the width of the body before tying. For a nymph back, secure the material at the rear, build an even underbody, then stretch the Exo Skin forward and tie it off behind the eye. Moderate tension helps it follow the body curve; excessive tension can narrow the piece and alter the distribution of the mottling. Use sharp scissors or a scalpel for custom shapes, and make a test cut on an offcut when refining a pattern. Secure the material with several controlled thread wraps before trimming the excess.
