Hareline Large Krystal Hackle

Hareline Large Krystal Hackle is a prepared, one-sided strip of synthetic fibres for bodies, collars and synthetic hackle. The fibres are mounted along one edge of the strip, making their direction easy to control while winding. The Large version is intended for fuller silhouettes with a broad, mobile fibre profile on flies and streamers.

Construction and use

Tie in the end of the strip on the hook shank and wind it while sweeping the fibres back before each turn. It can form a collar around the head, contribute to a body, or provide legs; when wet, the fibres settle and move in a marabou-like manner. Vary the spacing between turns to adjust the density and volume of the finished fly.
