Hareline Life-Flex
Hareline Life-Flex consists of elastic strips for fly bodies, ribbing and mobile accents. It can also be cut for legs and tails. The package contains 40 strips, each approximately 27 cm long, making it practical to reserve separate lengths for different tying tasks.
Construction and use
For a body, tie the strip in at the rear of the hook, stretch it over the shaped underbody and secure it at the front. Tension narrows the strip and helps it follow a tapered body; less tension leaves fuller coverage. Life-Flex may be wound as the body material or used as ribbing, with spaced turns creating visible segmentation. For legs or tails, cut the required length, secure it with several thread wraps and finish without crushing the elastic material. A rib can be added in the opposite direction when the pattern calls for a more defined segmented surface.
