Hareline Pearl Core Braid
Hareline Pearl Core Braid is a fine braid with a pearl surface and a dyed core. It is intended to be wrapped as a continuous body, rib, or accent dividing body segments. The combination of pearl braid and core colour creates added colour depth for freshwater flies as well as streamers used in saltwater patterns.
Construction and use
Tie the braid in on the hook shank and wrap it in even turns, keeping enough tension to seat it neatly without flattening the braid. At the end of the body, several thread wraps secure it before trimming. It may cover the full body or form a narrower rib over thread, dubbing or another material. Varying the number of turns controls the body width and how prominently the core colour shows.
- Form: fine continuous braid with a core.
- Finish: pearl and iridescent, with added depth from the coloured core.
- Uses: bodies, ribs and segment divisions in freshwater flies and saltwater streamers.
- Technique: tie in at the start and wrap as a continuous body material.
