Hareline Pseudo Herl 1/4 in Feather
Hareline Pseudo Herl 1/4 in Feather is a narrow prepared strip of synthetic fibres carried on a strong, thin core. It can be wound for bodies, collars or synthetic hackle, or laid flat when a broader, more continuous surface is required on the fly.
Construction and use
Tie in the strip by its core and wrap it in touching turns. Sweep the fibres rearward before each turn to reduce trapping and preserve a mobile profile. The thin core can also be twisted, allowing the material to be counter-wrapped along the hook shank or placed in a dubbing loop. When laying it flat, control the edge of the strip and secure it cleanly with thread at the finish. The material is useful wherever a narrow, windable fibre strip is easier to manage than loose fibres.
- Form: narrow windable fibre strip on a thin core.
- Width: 1/4 inch edge to edge.
- Uses: bodies, gills, collars and synthetic hackle.
- Technique: wrap while sweeping fibres back, or lay flat.
