Hareline Quick Descent Dub
Hareline Quick Descent Dub is an unusual dubbing made from extremely fine aluminium fibres. The metal adds mass and a subtle sheen, while the strands cling closely enough to thread to form very small, compact elements. It should not be treated as a guarantee that every fly will sink rapidly: the practical effect depends on the quantity used and on the construction of the complete pattern.
Construction and use
Twist the fibres directly onto thread as a thin dubbing noodle; a very small amount is sufficient for an abdomen or head. The material can contribute some of the weight required by nymphs and wet flies or simply form a slim, lightly metallic body. On micro patterns, begin with only a few strands to avoid obstructing the hook gap.
- Material: extremely fine aluminium fibres.
- Effect: a compact body, added mass and restrained metallic reflection.
- Uses: nymphs, wet flies, larvae, small ants and other micro patterns.
- Dosage: use sparingly; added mass increases with the amount wrapped.
