Hareline Synthetic Quill Body Wrap
Hareline Synthetic Quill Body Wrap consists of prepared, tapered synthetic strips for building slim quill-style bodies. The strips are cut in two widths, allowing the tier to match the material to the hook and body length. Wound in touching turns, they create a regular segmented surface for a range of fly patterns without using natural feather fibres.
Construction and use
Select the strip width, tie in the narrow end at the rear and wind toward the eye with even tension. Let the turns touch or overlap slightly so the underbody does not show between them. Secure the strip at the front and trim the waste after checking the body proportions. If additional protection is wanted, test a thin clear coating on an offcut first, then apply it sparingly to the finished body so the segmentation remains visible.
