Hareline Top Flight Dry Fly Dubbing
Hareline Top Flight Dry Fly Dubbing is a lightweight synthetic dubbing for dry-fly bodies whose fibres do not absorb water. Its soft, fine texture forms slim abdomens and slightly fuller thoraxes without relying on coarse natural fur. It is best used in quiet, conventional patterns where a clean outline and an appropriate colour matter more than strong reflected flash.
Construction and use
Spread a small pinch along the tying thread and twist it into an even, preferably thin noodle. Successive wraps create a gently tapered body; remove excess fibres before winding. Top Flight is neither a flash dubbing nor a spiky nymph blend. Its purpose is to produce a light, controlled body on a dry fly.
- Material: fine synthetic fibres that do not absorb water.
- Effect: a light, clean body without dominant sparkle.
- Uses: conventional dry flies, mayflies, caddis and emergers.
- Technique: small portions distributed and twisted tightly onto thread.
