Hareline Translucent Ice Chenille Medium

Hareline Translucent Ice Chenille Medium is chenille with a medium profile, translucent fibres and a reflective finish. It is intended for fly and streamer bodies of moderate bulk, retaining a fibrous surface and clear translucency as it is wound.

Construction and use

At the starting point, expose a short section of the core by sweeping the fibres aside, then tie the core to the hook shank. Wind the chenille in adjacent turns, sweeping the fibres back before every turn. This keeps the turns even and leaves the fibres projecting from the body. The Medium version builds an intermediate body width and suits streamers and larger wet flies; on smaller patterns, control bulk by using fewer turns rather than forcing excessive material onto the shank.
