HMH Starter Tube Fly Tool
HMH Starter Tube Fly Tool is a compact adapter that allows tube flies to be tied in a conventional fly-tying vise. The tool is clamped directly in the jaws in place of a hook, eliminating the need for a separate tube-fly vise. It is designed for use with vises capable of securely holding a size 2/0 hook.
The precision-made stainless-steel body is fitted with brass hardware. Two stainless-steel pins are included, with diameters of 0.041 inches (1.04 mm) and 0.062 inches (1.57 mm). They provide supports for different HMH tube diameters, allowing tying materials to be wrapped around a stable, properly positioned base.
Each pin has a 90-degree bend at one end that acts as a stop. After the pin has been passed through the tube, it is secured in the tool with a knurled nut. This arrangement makes it straightforward to set the required working length of the tube before tying and to change tubes when moving between patterns.
