Negnon Fly Line Backing 20 lb
Negnon Fly Line Backing 20 lb is a polyester backing intended for light and medium fly-fishing outfits. It fills the reel beneath the fly line and, when a fish takes the entire line, provides the additional reserve needed to continue the fight. The 20 lb breaking strain is well suited to typical trout, grayling and other freshwater set-ups that do not require a heavier backing.
Its tight, round braid helps the material settle evenly on the spool. Polyester fibres have limited stretch, maintaining a clear connection with the fish even when a substantial length of backing is outside the reel. The smooth, orderly surface reduces friction and allows the backing to leave the spool cleanly during a fast run.
The 20 lb version and continuous lengths
One unit provides 50 m of backing with a nominal breaking strain of 20 lb, approximately 10 kg. It is offered in fluorescent yellow, orange, blue, purple, pink and green. These distinct colours make the backing easier to follow beyond the rod tip and allow it to be matched to the appearance of the outfit. The 50 m units are prepared in connected runs of ten spools, so several units purchased from the same run are supplied as one continuous length rather than separate pieces.
