Negnon Fly Line Backing 50 lb

Negnon Fly Line Backing 50 lb is a strong backing made from braided polyester fibres for outfits that require a substantial reserve of breaking strain. It fills the reel beneath the fly line and, during a long run from a powerful fish, becomes the direct connection between line and reel. The 50 lb version is intended for heavy salmon, pike and larger saltwater fly-fishing outfits.

The tight, round braid allows the backing to settle evenly across a broad reel arbor. Polyester has limited stretch, helping the angler maintain control while playing a fish on a long length of backing. Its smooth surface reduces friction as the material leaves the spool at speed and supports neat, orderly retrieval once the run has ended.

Backing for heavy outfits

One unit contains 50 m of backing with a nominal breaking strain of 50 lb, approximately 25 kg. Reel capacity and the fly-line manufacturer's recommendation should be checked before purchase, as this heavier backing occupies more spool space than the 20 and 30 lb versions. Fluorescent yellow, orange, blue, purple, pink and green options make the direction of a running fish easier to follow. The 50 m units are joined in runs of ten spools, so several units may be supplied as one continuous length.
