Peak Rotary Vise W/C-Clamp
Peak Rotary Vise W/C-Clamp is a rotary fly-tying vise supplied with standard jaws and a table-mounted C-clamp. Its defining feature is a firm, direct connection to the edge of the tying bench, combined with straightforward adjustments for working across a broad selection of hooks. Hardened and tempered tool-steel jaws hold hooks from size 2/0 down to the smallest commercially available patterns. An adjustment nut behind the head sets the jaws for the hook-wire diameter, while the cam lever closes them quickly. Once correctly adjusted, this arrangement provides repeatable holding when tying a series on similar hooks.
The head rotates to give a clear view of the underside and both sides of the fly, check material placement, or apply ribbing and other wraps by turning the vise. A screw beneath the brass body controls rotary resistance, allowing either light movement or enough drag to retain the selected position. An adjustable bobbin cradle is supplied and supports the thread during rotary work. The jaw arm has fixed geometry, so careful hook depth is useful when you want the shank to run as close as possible to the rotational axis, particularly with small hooks.
The C-clamp fits bench edges from 11/16 to 2 1/4 inches thick. Its reversible lower jaw provides the full clamping range, while two precision guide rods keep the clamping faces parallel. A deep rabbet helps the clamp engage securely even on a rounded table edge. During setup, give both faces full contact with the bench and apply only enough pressure to prevent movement of the vise stem. Seat the hook far enough into the jaws for a reliable grip, but leave sufficient access around the bend and tying area. Excessive jaw pressure is unnecessary and can shorten the working life of the jaws.
