Regal Revolution Fly-Tying Vise with Traditional Jaw and Bronze Pocket Base
Regal Revolution With Traditional Jaw and Bronze Pocket Base is a complete model 200-10P fly-tying vise combining the spring-operated Traditional Jaw, the true in-line rotary Revolution head and a freestanding Bronze Pocket Base. The jaws open with a single lever; insert the hook and release the handle to apply clamping pressure, without readjusting a screw whenever the hook size changes. A range from size 22 to 1/0 makes it possible to move from small trout flies to larger streamers and salmon patterns without changing the head. The hook should be seated well inside the jaw faces, and its hold should be checked with light pressure on the shank before tying begins.
The Revolution mechanism is designed for functional rotary tying rather than inspection alone. When the hook is positioned correctly, its shank can be aligned with the rotational axis, allowing chenille, dubbing loops, tinsels, feathers and other materials to be wound smoothly and evenly. The head rotates through 360°, while two stainless-steel, self-lubricating ball bearings provide light movement in either direction. A thumbscrew adjusts rotational resistance or locks the mechanism for conventional stationary tying. The head also articulates vertically through 220°, improving access to the underside of the fly and the hook bend, as well as making it easier to inspect or coat the pattern from several angles.
The bronze pocket base creates a stable workstation without requiring attachment to the edge of a table. Its substantial mass helps limit movement when higher thread tension is applied, while the shaped recesses keep small hooks, beads and other components for the current pattern close at hand. This configuration is well suited to a permanent tying bench but remains easy to reposition when the working angle needs to change. For the initial setup, place the base on a level surface, seat the stem securely and begin with moderate rotational resistance. Then adjust the head so that the hook shank runs as closely as possible along the axis; careful alignment is the key to gaining the full benefit of the true rotary system.
