Renzetti Base Version Saltwater Traveler Vise Right Handed
Renzetti Base Version Saltwater Traveler Vise Right Handed is the right-handed, pedestal-base configuration of the Saltwater Traveler 2200 fly-tying vise, fitted with jaws rated for hooks from #4 to 8/0. Compared with the standard Traveler, this version is directed toward the larger hooks used for streamers, predator flies and saltwater patterns. The stated jaw range applies to correct True Rotary operation, so the vise should be selected according to the hook sizes and wire diameters you actually use, rather than fly length alone. The right-handed layout places the head controls in a convenient position for a tyer working primarily with the right hand.
The patented, black-oxide-finished jaws use a cam-operated closing mechanism. Before locking the hook, adjust the jaw opening to suit its wire diameter, place a straight section of the shank between the jaws and then close the cam lever. Once set for a particular hook style, this arrangement makes repeated hook changes quick and consistent. Check the hold with moderate pressure in several directions before beginning a fly. With the hook shank correctly aligned to the rotational axis, the True Rotary mechanism turns the pattern without shifting its working position. This is useful for applying chenille, brushes, tinsel and hackle in even turns, inspecting the underside of the fly and distributing finishing materials around a large head.
The freestanding pedestal base provides a self-contained bench setup without requiring a C-clamp at the edge of the table. The vise head is carried on a 7-inch anodized aluminium stem, giving useful working clearance around larger patterns. An adjustable bobbin cradle, material clip and spinning attachment are included. The cradle keeps the thread controlled beneath the hook during rotary work, while the material clip holds long fibres and flash away from the section being tied. The spinning attachment provides a convenient way to turn the head during repetitive wrapping operations. For a stable setup, place the base on a clean, level surface and leave clear space around the rotating components before securing the hook. The vise is made in the USA.
