Renzetti Saltwater Traveler C -Clamp Vise Right Handed
Renzetti Saltwater Traveler C -Clamp Vise Right Handed is a right-handed fly-tying vise developed primarily for the larger hooks used in saltwater flies, streamers and other substantial patterns. Its jaws cover hooks from #4 to 8/0, making this configuration a practical choice when small-hook capacity is less important than a secure hold under firm thread tension and while working with bulky materials. The Right Handed layout positions the controls for a right-handed tyer, while the C-clamp provides a fixed mounting point at the edge of a suitable bench or table.
The patented black-oxide-finished jaws use a cam-operated closing mechanism. Once the pressure has been matched to the hook-wire diameter, the lever provides fast, repeatable locking. For a sound setup, place the hook so that the jaws grip a reasonably straight section of the shank, then test the hold with moderate thread tension before tying. Hook shape and wire thickness should still be considered near either end of the stated capacity. True rotary operation allows the hook shank to be aligned with the head’s axis of rotation. This makes it easier to inspect every side of the fly and apply thread, tinsel, chenille or other materials in even turns without repeatedly changing hand position. Rotary resistance can be adjusted to suit the task.
The coated C-clamp and 8-inch stem form a compact workstation without occupying the bench space required by a freestanding pedestal. Before installation, check that the table edge is rigid, suitably thick and positioned to give a comfortable tying height. The adjustable bobbin cradle supports the bobbin during rotary work, the material clip keeps loose fibers and feathers away from the hook, and the supplied spinning attachment lets the head be turned with the palm of the hand. Anodized aluminum components help protect the finish during regular use. The vise is made in the USA.
