Renzetti Standard Dubbing Needle With Half Hitch is a dual-purpose tool combining a dubbing needle with a half-hitch tool. The stainless-steel needle is mounted in a solid brass handle, while the opposite end incorporates a smooth conical recess for forming half hitches. The hexagonally machined handle provides a secure contact point for the fingers and helps prevent the tool from rolling across the tying bench when set down.

The needle can be used to separate and tease dubbing fibres, release materials trapped beneath thread wraps, and place small amounts of adhesive, head cement or resin. It can also assist with clearing the hook eye. At the other end, the half-hitch recess helps form a knot and slide it onto the head of the fly. This is a half-hitch tool rather than a whip finisher, so the two finishing methods should not be treated as interchangeable.
