Rio Powerflex Plus Tippet
RIO Powerflex Plus Tippet is a nylon tippet material for building or replacing the final section of a fly-fishing leader. Its nylon copolymer formulation delivers, according to RIO, up to 20% greater tensile strength than regular tippet material while retaining the suppleness and knot strength needed for practical leader construction.
Tippet forms the connection between a tapered leader, or its intermediate section, and the fly. Replacing this final length as it becomes shortened or worn helps preserve the main leader, while a suitable size allows the rig to be balanced for the fly, expected fish and fishing conditions. The material can be tied with the standard knots commonly used to join tippet sections and attach flies.
Select the required X size from the product selector. Lower X ratings indicate thicker material, suited to larger flies and more powerful tackle, while higher X ratings indicate finer tippet for smaller patterns and a more delicate presentation. The chosen size should also form a sensible transition from the preceding leader section, avoiding an abrupt change in diameter.
