Rio Premier 24ft Sink Tip Fly Line

RIO Premier 24 ft. Sink Tip is a family of fly lines combining a 24-foot sinking tip with a floating main section. The profile is intended for anglers who want a balanced casting outfit without an abrupt transition between sections of different density. It therefore brings together the ability to take a fly below the surface and the line control provided by a floating rear section. This arrangement is particularly relevant on rivers, where the line often needs to be repositioned after the cast to manage currents and control the way the fly travels.

Profile and fishing use

The fuller body section is designed to reduce the characteristic kick that can be felt when a sinking tip turns over. It helps the rod load more smoothly and keeps energy transfer through the cast more consistent. A longer front taper supports a progressive turnover, helping to prevent the denser front section from dropping abruptly or causing the loop to collapse on the forward cast. In practical terms, this profile suits anglers who need the function of a sinking tip but prefer a more composed casting feel than an unbalanced sink-tip outfit can provide.

The supple floating body makes mending easier once the line is on the water. This allows the angler to reposition the line across contrasting currents, reduce unwanted acceleration of the fly or introduce movement deliberately. The sinking tip carries the fly deeper, while the section remaining on the surface retains visibility and can be adjusted to influence the drift. It is a useful combination in situations where a fully sinking line would make surface corrections less straightforward.

• Line type: fly line with a 24-foot sinking tip and a floating main section.
• Profile: fuller body to reduce kick, plus a longer front taper for smoother loop turnover.
• Family range: six grain designations — 150 gr, 200 gr, 250 gr, 300 gr, 350 gr and 400 gr.
• Front connection: welded loop to make rigging the line more straightforward.

Whichever version is selected, the purpose of the profile remains consistent: the tip works below the surface while the floating rear section leaves the angler able to mend the line and control presentation. RIO Premier 24 ft. Sink Tip is consequently aimed at river fishing where greater depth is required without giving up the handling advantages of a line section that remains on the surface.
