Rio Skagit Versi Tip
RIO Skagit Versi Tip is a complete casting system for two-handed rods, built around either a Skagit Max or Skagit Max Short shooting head. Rather than requiring the head, tips and running line to be selected separately, each package combines matching components intended for casting larger flies and fast-sinking tips. The family covers head weights from 400 to 600 gr and rod designations from #6 to #8/9, allowing anglers to match the system to their rod and preferred loading while retaining the same modular Skagit concept.
Profile and fishing use
The concentrated mass of a Skagit head helps transfer energy into a sinking tip and fly, particularly where a more delicate profile would offer less authority over the complete arrangement. This design is primarily intended for river fishing with two-handed rods, where controlled loop formation, reliable turnover of a heavier set-up and quick changes in presentation are important. Max forms the standard part of the range, while Max Short is the shorter profile option for anglers seeking a more compact casting arrangement.
- Family range: Skagit Max and Skagit Max Short heads from 400–600 gr, with designations from #6–#8/9.
- System contents: a shooting head, a balanced selection of MOW tips and an appropriately sized ConnectCore shooting line.
- 500–550 gr packages: 10 ft floating Medium MOW, 10 ft 5/5 Medium iMOW, 10 ft Medium T-11 MOW and .032 in ConnectCore shooting line.
- 575–600 gr packages: 10 ft floating Heavy MOW, 10 ft 5/5 Heavy iMOW, 10 ft Heavy T-14 MOW and .037 in ConnectCore shooting line.
The interchangeable tips broaden the fishing range of a single head. The floating option supports presentations higher in the water, while the iMOW and the MOW configurations using T-11 or T-14 provide alternatives for working below the surface. There is no need to replace the complete fly line when depth, current or presentation changes: the angler can exchange the tip while retaining the same head and running line. The Medium and Heavy labels identify the matched components used in the two documented package groups.
Each head and tip is built on an ultra-low-stretch core. Reduced extension helps the angler feel the head loading during the cast, monitor the tip in the current and maintain clearer contact with the fly. The supplied ConnectCore shooting line completes the arrangement with a size matched to the relevant package.
