Rufo Zirconia Ceramic Bobbin is a conventionally built, spring-arm fly-tying bobbin with a full zirconia ceramic tube in a standard size. The complete thread-guiding section is ceramic rather than being fitted only with a ceramic outlet ring. Its smooth thread path helps reduce friction and the risk of fraying during repeated wraps. The standard-format tube provides familiar working reach and practical access to the hook for routine work at the vise.
Spool resistance is produced by pressure from the spring arms; this model has no slider or disc-drag mechanism. The straightforward construction makes spool resistance easy to judge and keeps tension predictable once the arms are set correctly. Electropolished aluminum components provide a clean finish, while the available color variants help distinguish bobbins loaded with different threads. To set up the tool, seat the spool evenly between the arm fittings and check that it turns without tilting. Adjust resistance through small, symmetrical changes to the arm spacing rather than forceful bending.
