Spirit River Polar Aire
Spirit River Polar Aire is a soft, supple synthetic fibre material for streamer wings and layered baitfish profiles. It can be shaped neatly on the hook shank, while its subtle sheen adds visual life without forcing a bulky, tightly packed wing. The material provides a consistent alternative to natural hair when a tier needs repeatable profiles and straightforward handling.
Construction and use
Separate a small bundle, even the tips or leave them slightly irregular, then secure it firmly at the tie-in point. Build width and shape with successive layers rather than one oversized bunch. The fibres can be blended with other materials, tapered or trimmed after they are tied in. For a parachute post, form a compact but moderate bundle and bind it securely so it remains upright while retaining enough fibre movement for a clean finish.
- Streamer wings Stack layers to establish the required length and volume for the hook size.
- Baitfish profiles Shape a soft back, flank or tail while leaving enough space for the fibres to move freely.
- Preparation Work with small bundles and use several firm thread wraps instead of compressing one dense clump.
- Finishing Brush the fibres into alignment, check the symmetry and trim the profile to match the fly shape.
